Why treat life as a conundrum when it is actually simple, believe you me. Just lie back and enjoy the show -- life is one great movie with fate at the helm. If fate wills that I remain obscure and never get to become the person that I want to be, then so be it. Who am I to argue? If I'm to be struck by some debilitating disease, I'll surely be angry. Europe's skills fall behind Asia

E-mail Print PDF
europe skills and asiaEurope is falling behind Asia in terms of education and skills, according to a report by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD).

It blames France and Germany which are criticised for mediocre education systems and their inherent class bias.
China and India, on the other hand, are starting to deliver "high skills at low costs and at an ever increasing pace".
South Korea and Finland are highlighted as positive examples where investment in education has taken priority.
The report's author, Andreas Schleicher, says the solution is clear for countries falling behind, like France and Germany - investment in education and skills.

STOP Software Patents!

E-mail Print PDF

We are asking our representatives in the European Parliament to save Europe from software patents by following the Buzek-Rocard-Duff amendments.

The Software Patents Directive, as approved by the European Council of Ministers, would legalise US-style Software Patents in the European Union.

If that happens, software developers will no longer own what they write and can be sued for selling or distributing their own software. This would not only endanger your job, but the entire European software sector.

On Wed the 6th of July, the European Parliament will have the last chance to prevent this. To do so, 367 of the 732 members must be present and vote for the right amendments

How you can help
